Is it possible to have a JEE server hint excluded from git commits?

Brett Ryan
In all my years this is the first time I've encountered this issue.

nb-configuration.xml stores the hint org-netbeans-modules-maven-j2ee.netbeans_2e_hint_2e_deploy_2e_server (I wonder if 2e is repeated? lol).

This setting if using Tomcat will be "Tomcat" if using Glassfish it will be "gfv3ee6".

If project members are using different servers for testing how can we allow this without the project settings toggling?

We don't want to exclude the file from source control as there's common properties like license hints and code style.

The problem has arisen due to workstations in another country being controlled by system administrators and tomcat was not installed, the administrators are refusing to reinstall.
