Configuring Docker with Netbeans 8.2

Greenberg, Gary (ARC-TI)[UNIVERSITIES SPACE RESEARCH ASSN]

I am trying to use Docker for the first time and have some problems configuring it with Netbeans IDE.

I did install Docker on the virtual box on my laptop.

Command docker run hello-world showed that it is installed correctly.

Now I am trying to add the instance of it to the IDE and that is where I am having troubles.

To get IP address I did:

root@vagrant-ubuntu-trusty-64:~# ifconfig

docker0   Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 02:42:e7:93:5f:3c

          inet addr:172.17.0.1  Bcast:0.0.0.0  Mask:255.255.0.0

          inet6 addr: fe80::42:e7ff:fe93:5f3c/64 Scope:Link

          UP BROADCAST MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1

          RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0

          TX packets:3 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0

          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0

          RX bytes:0 (0.0 B)  TX bytes:258 (258.0 B)

eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 08:00:27:ac:f1:24

          inet addr:10.0.2.15  Bcast:10.0.2.255  Mask:255.255.255.0

          inet6 addr: fe80::a00:27ff:feac:f124/64 Scope:Link

          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1

          RX packets:2037570 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0

          TX packets:1645117 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0

          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000

          RX bytes:677084393 (677.0 MB)  TX bytes:2615475193 (2.6 GB)

lo        Link encap:Local Loopback

          inet addr:127.0.0.1  Mask:255.0.0.0

          inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host

          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING  MTU:65536  Metric:1

          RX packets:60 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0

          TX packets:60 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0

          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0

          RX bytes:4015 (4.0 KB)  TX bytes:4015 (4.0 KB)

To get the socket I ran netstat command and got

unix  3      [ ]         STREAM     CONNECTED     296095   /var/run/docker/libcontainerd/docker-containerd.sock

Putting those values to the the URL gives me an error (see attached image.

I also have no idea where certificates shall reside and how do I install it for docker.

Forgive my ignorance but please do help me. Netbeans Wiki and Geertjan blog starts with presumption that Docker has been configured already.

Not sure where things are going wrong, maybe this helps though for OSX, could be something here that’s helpful:

Re: Configuring Docker with Netbeans 8.2

Greenberg, Gary (ARC-TI)[UNIVERSITIES SPACE RESEARCH ASSN]

Nope, that does not work for me.

I installed socat but it does not behave like it is described by the link you provided.

root@vagrant-ubuntu-trusty-64:~# socat -d -d tcp-listen:9090,fork UNIX:///var/run/docker.sock &

[1] 2687

root@vagrant-ubuntu-trusty-64:~# 2017/09/14 20:36:30 socat[2687] N listening on AF=2 0.0.0.0:9090

IMHO, it is not forking, but I am not sure.

Attempt to connect on the port 9090 by netbeans caused 30 seconds wait and then refusal to connect.
